PROGRESSIVE DINNER
PROGRESSIVE DINNER
A neighborhood favorite!
Saturday April 25
5:00-10:00 PM
We are excited to announce the return of the RHA Progressive Dinner on Saturday, April 25. For many this is a favorite neighborhood tradition. If you are new to the event it is sure to become a one of yours as well!
The evening begins with three courses hosted in homes, condos, and apartments throughout the neighborhood. We will then gather as a full group for dessert and champagne at the homes of Pat and Dick Hart and Ed and Katie McKenny, at 280 Summit Avenue.
How it works
Participants agree to host one of three courses: appetizers, soup or salad, or entrée. There is no space too small. If you can host four guests, that is perfect. If you have room for more, you are welcome to host a larger group or team up with another member to share responsibilities and costs. Please note that we are not able to match co-hosts, so if you would like to co-host, you will need to coordinate with neighbors.
Food and beverages are not provided by RHA.
We are seeing an increasing number of participants with special dietary needs, including vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free preferences. If you are able to host a course that can accommodate any of these needs, please let us know when you register. Helpful gluten-free tips are available in the sidebar. If you have questions or would like more information about accommodating dietary restrictions, please reach out and we will be happy to assist.
Hosting is flexible and there are no strict rules. You can be as formal or casual as you like and host as many guests as your space allows. No special entertaining skills required. We will assign guests to your course and provide you with your schedule for the evening.
This is a great opportunity to connect with neighbors, make new friends, and celebrate what makes Ramsey Hill such a wonderful place to live.
Evening Schedule
Appetizers: 5:00 to 6:00 PM
Soup or Salad: 6:15 to 7:15 PM
Entrée: 7:30 to 8:30 PM
Dessert: 8:45 to 9:45 PM at 270 Summit Avenue
Please RSVP by Saturday, April 18. You will receive your guest list and course assignments by Wednesday, April 22.
If you have questions, please contact RHA Social Chair Jason Patalonis at 651-336-4684.
This is a members-only event. If you would like to participate, now is a great time to join. Please contact Membership Chair Heidi Smith for more information.
Here are some tips for being gluten-free as a Progressive Dinner host:
-
There are many gluten free substitutes for things like flour, bread, and pasta. Some products are better than others, if you would like some tips on what to buy and what to buy and where to find it, reach out! We’ll get you the details.
-
If you're serving a salad, a good practice is to serve the “fixings” and dressings on the side.
-
Potatoes and rice are probably easier than pasta.
-
A set up like a taco bar where people assemble their own entree can take the guess-work out of it for the host. The person with the food allergy can choose what they can or can’t eat.
-
Many people with food allergies are accustomed to asking what ingredients have been used in a dish. If you can be prepared to tell them what ingredients you’ve used, that can give the guest with a food allergy a greater sense of comfort.
-
With gluten, cross-contamination can be an issue but can be mitigated by using a clean work space and avoiding things like toasters and toaster ovens that can’t be adequately cleaned.
Things to know as you fill out the form:
Name: Your name. (Just you, the rest of the members of your household that are participating will be accounted for later.)
Host or Co-host: Let us know if you will be hosting the course in your home, or if you will be co-hosting in someone else's home (Please note that we are not able to match co-hosts, so if you would like to co-host, you will need to coordinate with neighbors.)
Additional Names: Fill in the name(s) of any other people in your household that will be attending the dinner. Example, if you are "Joe Smith", and your wife will be attending as well, put her name "Jane Smith" in this spot. (We need to know exactly who will be attending in order to properly make the placements.)
CoHost: Fill in the name(s) of the person or people you are Co-Hosting with (or if you are the co-host, the name of the host). Again, we need to account for each person.
Number of People you can accommodate: This number should include all those attending in your household + your co-host(s) + maximum number of people you can and are willing to accommodate.
Traveling Party: If you prefer to keep up to 3 people together to travel to the other courses, please list all three names here, including yourself. Household members will automatically be kept together.
You will NOT get an automatic confirmation email, but we'll send a manual one within a couple of hours of your submission. If you don't get a confirmation, it means we didn't get your registration.
